About

History

Steven Medhurst has been an artist jeweller for over forty years, he first started making jewellery at the Somerset College of Art in 1968, then progressed through the jewellery trade as a craftsman in various workshops around the country, working in Manchester, Bradford and Exeter, before establishing his own workshop in the Taunton area, offering services to the jewellery trade. He has extensive experience in diamond mounting and jewellery design, as well as jewellery repair and alteration.

Unique Style

Steven has developed his own unique style of jewellery over four decades, drawing inspirations from the surrounding Somerset countryside where he lives and works. His style reflects shapes and forms in nature, from the branches on the beech trees on the Quantock hills to a tiny group of flowers in the crevice of an old stone wall.

“But my work is not just a simple literal representation of shapes that I see in nature, it’s an essence or the life force of Nature that I try to express sculpturally in gold, silver and platinum.”

Bespoke Commissions

Steven is happy to discuss commissions in his unique style of work. He is able to recycle your old jewellery, reusing the precious metals, diamonds and coloured gems for your commission. New stones can be added to match old ones. Steven will also undertake repair and alteration work to your jewellery.

Every piece of jewellery is a handmade unique ‘one-off’ made by Steven in his workshop in Somerset.
